Scarborough Green Links

Build the Scarborough Green Links.

Connecting our neighbourhoods. Creating more ways to get around. Making better use of the spaces we already have.

Scarborough Centre is growing, but getting between neighbourhoods without a car can still be difficult.

Major roads, rail corridors, ravines and other barriers can make relatively short trips difficult on foot or by bike. In some areas, there are also few direct, comfortable routes connecting residents to parks, transit, schools, shops and other community destinations.

At the same time, there are underused corridors and green spaces throughout Scarborough Centre that could serve a greater community purpose.

Scarborough Green Links is a proposal to explore three connected green space corridors that could help address these gaps.

Map of proposed routes in Green. Purple is existing trails.

1. The Warden Green Link

A north-south trail along the Warden Hydro Corridor. The corridor would provide opportunities for walking and biking while connecting nearby residents to schools, parks, transit and local businesses.

2. The Wexford-Maryvale Green Link

A north-south trail following a former rail corridor between Warden and Birchmount.

This corridor would provide a wonderful direct and quiet corridor for north-south movement without the need to travel along major roads, connect to rapid transit as well as nearby neighbourhoods.

3. The Dorset Park Green Link

A trail using a combination of existing green spaces, and where needed, trails on side streets.

The proposed connection would provide another north-south walking and cycling route and connect Dorset Park and Lawrence Village to the Meadoway, parks, rapid transit and other neighbourhood destinations.

What could Green Links provide?

These corridors could create:

  • Safer ways to walk between neighbourhoods
More direct routes away from high-speed arterial roads.
  • More options for cycling
Connected routes that make short trips possible without relying on a car.
  • More access to green space
Places to walk, exercise, spend time outdoors and connect with nature.
  • Better connections to transit
Routes connecting neighbourhoods with nearby rapid transit stations and existing trails.
  • Stronger neighbourhood connections
Links between parks, schools, businesses, community facilities and residential areas.

A more connected Scarborough.

Scarborough Green Links will transform mobility for residents and provide much needed green space for people. But this is just a proposal. We still need to put in the work to make this happen. First, we have to build community support and rally to show how much residents want this. Sign the petition and show your support.
